Last night, we had the honour of catering the official kick-off of Van Dusen Botanical Garden’s Zimfest exhibition, which runs from now until September 25 for its third and final season. The show features over 300 extraordinary stone sculptures created by more than 50 talented Zimbabwean artists spanning 4 generations. The pieces are scattered throughout the breathtaking Van Dusen Gardens, providing an intriguing focus amid a gorgeous backdrop of both exotic and native flora. Also taking place are live demonstrations of sculpting and carving by the Zimbabwean artists themselves, the pieces from which will be on sale to help support the garden. This exhibition is Zimfest’s only North American stop on its legendary world tour, so this is definitely an opportunity you don’t want to miss. Unless, of course, you’re planning a trip to Zimbabwe, where art critics agree that the world’s most notable sculptures are found.
